Planning Your Move
Ask the Right Questions!
The Property Management team at the Atlanta Galleria Office Park has worked with hundreds of clients to assist them in facilitating a smooth transition to their new office environment. By asking important questions before the move, you can assure a successful project completion.
When is the best time to move my company or business?
We have found it is most efficient for clients to move their business after regular work hours to minimize disruption to staff and customers. Therefore, all moves to the Atlanta Galleria Office Park must be made after 6:00 pm during the week or anytime on the weekends. Just make sure to work with the Property Management team far in advance to reserve the freight elevators, security staff and cleaning crew.
How far in advance should I begin planning my move?
We recommend you start planning your commercial move approximately two months prior to your actual move date. You will need sufficient time to interview moving companies, evaluate proposals and reserve labor and equipment.
How can I make my move as “green” as possible?
There are a number of ways to make your move green such as cleaning out prior to the move, recycling electronic equipment, and utilizing crates.
- Implement a trash day prior to your move. Assess what can be effectively thrown away versus items that legally must be kept such as records, logs, books, etc. Include records retention guidelines with trash day information to assist the staff in culling out redundant materials.
- Dispose of your old electronic equipment responsibly. There are a number of companies that offer to recycle computers, hardware and cell phones. The Atlanta Galleria Office Park requests that companies properly dispose of electronic scrap.
- Plastic moving crates save resources as they are reusable for a minimum of ten years and cut down on paper costs. You can rent them from your mover. Additionally, you can save on the number of truckloads and moving time by having your team utilize this efficient method of moving files and personal items.
What additional paperwork do I need?
The Atlanta Galleria Office Park requires its tenants to carry a full line of Mover’s General Liability insurance. Review our Mover's Rules and Regulations for a full explanation of what must be covered. See Moving Procedures.
Is there anything else I need to tell the movers?
Our Galleria Property Management team will work with you to make sure the day goes according to schedule. In addition to what your team will need, you will need to make sure your movers understand:
- All common hallway floors must be protected by a layer of material such as masonite or plywood.
- All door jambs must be protected by a material such as cardboard or cotton padding.
- The entry doors to the suite must be protected by covering them with a material such as a furniture pad or cardboard.
- All vulnerable walls and/or corners must be protected by a material such as masonite.
- All empty moving boxes must be removed by the moving company.
- All employees of the moving company should be readily identifiable.
